The Irish Free State's President Mary McAleese made the first ever state visit by a Free State President to an Orange Hall last November and what did she learn? and for that matter what did we learn?
Well firstly we learned that the leadership of the Orange Order has about as much backbone as a jellyfish thats been put in a blender and that if dear old Bobby Saulters the "Grand" Master of the order and most of the grand lodge thinks theres a chance that they might their picture get in a newspaper they'll happily sell out their traditions and principles... but the question is why? does wee bobby and the bossy bunch think that if they get a good picture of themselves in the paper their modelling career might really start to take off? because at least this would seem sensible in comparison to the idea that they think that if republicans see them in a paper haveing tea and buns with M.McAleese they might start liking the order and wonder what all the murders bombings and attacks on member were all about? because if they honestly think this then the orders headquarters would be better buying a few goats and changing the hq's name from "Schromberg House" to the "Schromberg House for the Insane".
McAleese's visit prompts alot of questions...like... Does this mean that the bretheren in the south accept and support the Irish Goverment?...Does this mean that the Orange Order has no problem with talking to a goverment that attacked Britain and helped in the murder of innocent protestants and effectively forced immigration on Protestants who were left in the southern couties after the south became a republic?...and considering it was a thursday at around noon do any orangemen in Grand Lodge or the lodge in which McAleese was visting actually work? or do they just get extremely long lunch breaks? and finally one of the most important questions of all which im sure through all the tension in that lodge room was asked straight to peoples faces..."do you want another sandwich Bobby?", but seriously isn't Mary the same person who said all protestants in the North were Nazis? Isn't she the same person who makes up her own history to suit herself (God forbid the irish would do such a thing) but mary aside isnt it about time the orange order decided what the hell it was doing? and isnt it about time the Grand Lodge actually listened to what its members are demanding? The order needs changes at the top before...to put it bluntly...things go tits up.
